Blizzcast #13 har legat uppe ett par dagar nu och ni som inte har sett den kanske kan vara intresserade av att göra det. Mest fokus ligger på Starcraft 2-betan, men givetvis har de även information om WoW och Diablo 3. Nedan ett litet citat kring hur resurssystemen i Diablo 3 just nu fungerar. Blizzard har ju som mål att alla klasser skall ha olika energikällor för sina färdigheter och magier och inte bara mana.

Zarhym: So how are those different resource systems working out so far?

Bashiok: They’re all going pretty well, none of them are finished. We’re still working hard on everything.

The Witch Doctor is probably the most solid which probably makes sense because he’s using mana. But we don’t have mana potions so we need to work on his recovery of mana. So he has, some people might have seen soul harvest as one of those at BlizzCon and that might be part of a larger group of recovery systems.

The monk is probably actually the next most solid which might seem weird since he was the most recently announced. But his resource system just kind of worked right when it came out of the gate. But nobody has seen it yet, and we haven’t talked about it yet… aside from this right now. [laughs] So we’re still not announcing what it is, we still have some work to do but it’s pretty solid, it’s looking pretty good.

The barbarian is close. We have a new revision going in soon and we’re hopeful for that.

And the wizard is probably the hardest right now. It’s been a struggle trying to get that nailed down but it gets closer with every revision.

And the fifth class of course would be… nah I’m just kidding.

Blizzard Authenticator - Inte längre säker?

Det verkar som att hackers har kommit på ett sätt att ta över folks konton som även är fästa med en Blizzard Authenticator. Nu när detta är sårbart så uppmanar vi alla till att uppdatera era virusprogram och håll er borta från skumma sidor!

Anyone who has an authenticator attached to their account should run a search (and probably an antivirus scan in case it’s on the threat list already) immediately and ensure the file emcor.dll does not exist on your computer. This file is one reported to be allowing hackers to access World of Warcraft accounts that have authenticators attached to them. It’s also possible there are other variations of these suspicious files, so if anyone has additional information please respond in the comments.

Based on this thread, the file may be found in /users/username/appdata/Temp. Since the file is fairly new (first mentions of it are only a few days ago), and the common source is unknown, I urge everyone to not log in to World of Warcraft or the account management site until you’ve run a scan. Confirm your computer is secure before using your authenticator, because this DLL file is allowing hackers to crack through it and access your account.

A warning sign that you’re currently infected with this keylogger is that WoW will say your authentication code is incorrect, even if you know for sure you typed in the correct code.

Blizzard har också uppmärksammat detta och utreder nu det hela internt.

This is obviously something that needs a proper investigation.

Ännu en Starcraft 2 uppdatering har kommit ut ur Blizzards portar och med det kommer den alltid lika roliga Patch notes listan.

Vad har hänt innehåller sammanfattande nyheter/information som har med Diablo att göra.

1 – En av de mest omdiskuterade finesserna i Diablo II är att man fritt kan förklara sig fiende med valfria spelare i ett s.k. game. Många tyder på att detta är en mycket bra och enkel funktion, medan andra anser att detta förstör spelet när man t. ex är i hardcore-läge (d.v.s att man inte får dö). På diablo3.com kan man läsa hur Blizzard överväger att ‘avaktivera’ detta i uppföljaren.

With regard to the multiplayer component of Diablo III, the emphasis will be on cooperative play, but we will also include support for competitive play. What form that support will take is still being discussed, but we are being careful to avoid features that can easily lead to griefing, such as the ability to go hostile at will.

Vad anser ni?

2 – En ny uppdatering, 1.13, närmar sig Diablo II. Det speciella med denna patch är att användarna själv fick tycka till om vad de ansåg var viktigast att uppdatera. En generaliserad FAQ angående detta hittar du här. Nu är det kanske dags att rulla igång Diablo för sista gången?

3 – Kan Munken använda spjut och kommer det finnas spells som bara kan användas med speciella vapen? Detta frågar en användare på det officiella Diablo3-forumet. I korthet svarar Blizzard osäkert med ett nej på båda frågorna.

Currently our list of weapons the monk class can use is one handed swords, polearms, combat staves, and fist weapons. That could potentially change, but its probably pretty likely those will be the weapons the monk can equip.

The flavor of the monk we’re working on now is a very strong connection between a small and focused group of weapon types, and the skills that use them.

Det finns ingen tvekan om att Blizzard brukar ha ganska mycket humor med sina spel, och att man säkert kommer hitta många fler i framtiden, men här har ni två stycken jag hittat när jag spelat dom senaste dagarna.

Det finns säkert många roliga småsaker jag ännu inte hittat i Starcraft 2.

Strax över en vecka efter att Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty-betan blev tillgänglig för vissa, har den nu fått sin första patch.

Det blev en hel del nerfs (jag som protoss-spelare tycker att det blev lite väl mycket nerfs på Mothership), men give and take, som det heter.

Nu må bilden här över inte vara uppdaterad (skyll på mig, jag är lat!), men klickar ni er in här finner ni att hela 96% av plattan är avtäckt!

Vad jag finner mest otroligt är alla dessa människor världen över som skickat in bilderna för att bilda en enda bild av alla raser i WoW (antar jag iallafall). När man läser att det finns runt 11 miljoner spelare världen över låter det maffigt, men det är bara en siffra. Om man däremot tittar igenom alla bilder så ser man killar och tjejer, unga, gamla över hela världen som håller upp sin respektive fraktions emblem. Det är riktigt häftigt att se faktiskt!

Av alla bilder finns det de som är mer kreativa än andra, men man hittar bland annat en hejaklacksledare som går i brygga samtidigt som hon lyckas ta kort med sig själv + Alliance-logon (vilken bedrift!), en amerikansk soldat som har sin guild och sin realm samt sin fraktion representerad i ett tygmärke på sin uniform, en iskall kvinna som poserar tappert framför en stridsvagn i snörusk (utan jacka av någon anledning). Det finns precis allt möjligt och det är förbannat kul att kolla igenom bilderna!

Personligen fastnade jag för den där cheerleadern…

Boubouille borta på MMO-Champion har ännu en gång gått lös på datamining i patch 3.3.3-filen som ligger ute på PTR (Public Test Realm).

Man hittar något så spännande som quests för Horde och Alliance, där gnomer behöver din assistans för att ta tillbaka Gnomeregan och trollen vill ha hjälp med att ta över The Echo Isles. Allt detta är prologer till Cataclysm, nästa expansion till World of Warcraft.

Blizzard introducerar också en ny mekanik ”Overcloak”. Det går till så att du kan ändra utseende på din nuvarande mantel, men bara utseendet. Du behåller dina nuvarande stats alltså. Något jag personligen sett fram emot då cloaks oftast är riktigt fula!
